The initial consultation is $100, and the fees thereafter are based on either an hourly rate or a flat fee that reflects the over all budget and scope of the project.

APPROACH
David’s design methodology and scope of services occur in five phases, but can be tailored depending on your timeline and needs.

Phase I: Project Review
You and David first meet to discuss design goals and dreams. Together, you will identify a preliminary direction, style, budget, schedule and quality of finishes.

Phase II: Project Scope
The following is a brief overview list of elements that could fall under the project scope of service. With you, David determines:

   • floor covering types and placement
   • accessories
   • color palette
   • wall surface finishes
   • style of plumbing fixtures
   • style of furniture and window treatments
   • types and placement of surface finishes such as counter tops, fireplace surrounds,
      bathtub decking and shower enclosures.

Phase III: Concept Design
Upon approval of the project scope, David begins the conceptual planning phase, during which the following actions may take place:

   • draft preliminary furniture plan
   • draft color palette
   • draft preliminary floor covering plan
   • choose preliminary floor covering materials and surface materials
   • draft preliminary lighting plan
   • select preliminary plumbing fixtures
   • develop an estimated cost of implementing the concept.

Phase IV: Design Development

David will work closely with you throughout the project to ensure all wants and needs are met every step of the way. The following may fall under this phase:

   • review with you all items covered under the concept design phase
   • revise furniture placement plan and furniture selections, if needed
   • revise lighting plan, if needed
   • write plumbing fixture specifications
   • prepare all needed elevations and details
   • prepare design presentation including preliminary cost estimates
   • prepare finish material and wall covering schedules and furniture specifications to
reflect final choices made by client.

Phase V: Design Implementation and Purchasing

During the final phase, David works with the contractor (if there is one in addition to David), consultants and manufacturers in reviewing bids, assisting in the negotiations, and making reasonable adjustments in order to meet budgets. This includes visits to the project site (your home or office) to ensure that the work is being performed in accordance with submitted documents, specifications and design concepts.

As a recognized interior designer, David is able to obtain competitive prices from top vendors and sources. In this phase, David:

   • prepares all purchase orders
   • coordinates and expedites all items being purchased
   • arranges for warehousing until time of installation, if needed
   • inspects all furniture items and follows up with vendors if necessary
   • schedules and supervises installation of all purchases, including mounting of all art.
